The only difference would be that the iPad will have a 3G capability where you can get internet service anywhere and no contract needed. Also, at the release, a few developers showed off some apps that they had created for the iPad that were astounding. I think that in the future, the question will not be, "Why would I get a bigger iPod touch?" rather, "Why would I get a smaller iPad?". Anyways, in the US, the iPad is unlocked but only works on a MicroSim network (think just AT&T), and the plan costs $15 a month for 250 GB of data (which is enough to get most people by) and $30 a month for unlimited data. You activate the plan on the iPad, and it is contract free, so you can cancel whenever you like.
